Measures aim to spur plastic recycling

Measures aim to spur plastic recyclingMr Varawut aims to address plastic shortages through environmental measures, including recycling unused plastics. Industry Minister Varawut Silpa-archa has announced urgent measures to accelerate plastic recycling in Thailand as the country grapples with a shortage of plastics caused by the ongoing Israel–US conflict with Iran. "The plastic bead price affects the cost of packaging products and directly impacts end users buying food, beverages and consumer goods. Thailand generates more than 2.7 million tonnes of plastic waste annually, but only about 25% is recycled. He expects that producing recycled plastic beads domestically will help offset rising costs and shortages in the global market.
