It comes as the globe’s rich prepare to lecture on “income inequality” in one theme at the World Economic Forum. As the top 1% got richer, wealth flatlined for the 3.7 billion people who make up the world’s poorest half. Oxfam said the combined wealth of the richest 1%, or 75 million people, grew £550billion last year, enough to end extreme poverty seven times over.
