He believes the union will facilitate an economic boom for Meghalaya—as well as Northeast India in general. The chief minister stated this while addressing the convocation of the University of Science and Technology (USTM), on Saturday, in Meghalaya’s Ri Bhoi district. “Connecting Mahendraganj to Hili in West Bengal also saves more than 700 km and opens up three to four corridors,” added the chief minister. Mentioning the Act East policy propounded by India's Central Government, Conrad Sangma said immense potential of Northeast India is yet to be utilized.
