By Anthony HarrupMEXICO CITY--Mexico registered a small trade surplus in June thanks to a sharp decline in petroleum imports and growth in nonoil exports. The country posted a $38.2 million trade surplus last month, compared with a $3.97 billion deficit in June of 2022, the National Statistics Institute said Thursday. Mining exports rose 66% to $1.06 billion, and agricultural exports were 5.1% higher at $1.86 billion. The petroleum trade deficit narrowed to $979 million from $4.76 billion in the year-earlier month, and the surplus in nonpetroleum goods trade increased to $1.02 billion from $789 million. In the first half of the year, Mexico had a trade deficit of $6.34 billion.
