Mice droppings among reasons for closure orders issued to food businesses last month


A wholesaler in north west Dublin was issued with a closure order last month due to the presence of “extensive mice droppings”. The business, trading as Crosfield, in Northwest Business Park, Ballycoolin, Dublin 15 was issued with a closure order in December due to the presence of mice droppings. Ruby's Cakes in Bohermeen, Navan, Co Meath was also issued a closure order in relation to a mouse infestation. “Food, food contact materials and food surfaces were not protected against potential rodent contact.”This notice was lifted on December 15. Between January 1 and December 31, 2025, 102 closure orders, 23 prohibition orders and two improvement orders were issued, bringing the overall number of enforcement orders to 127.
