There are the hallmarks of George Orwell’s fictitious state of Oceania, in which Big Brother was constantly watching. Indeed, that surveillance has crept into the workplace as employers are increasingly keeping tabs on staff, from recording telephone calls to monitoring internet and email use and entry in and out of the premises. It has recently been reported that some unnamed British companies are considering taking things a step further, by microchipping some of their employees to boost security.
