Microsoft is logging out of its retail stores. Did you know they had retail stores? That they are doing it at exactly the wrong time and with exactly the wrong premise doesn’t disguise the real reason for the closings: they were just bad stores. Microsoft’s stores were among the most blatant doppelgangers in retailing history, being virtual carbon copies of Apple stores. Bad retail is bad.
