Scouting Ireland is the largest non-formal education youth movement on the island of Ireland with close to 40,000 members. At Lough Dan, Scouting Ireland has taken on an important role of restoring the former farmland which had declined over a number of decades, become overgrown and bracken spreading across large areas of the site.
