Minister: MACC is not investigating 1MDB

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 20): 1Malaysia Development Bhd is not being investigated by the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission, according to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Paul Low, despite the fact that its dealings are being probed in several countries. The inquiry into the state-owned strategic investment fund is being undertaken by the Royal Malaysian Police instead, he said. He said this in a written answer to Bayan Baru’s member of Parliament Sim Tze Tzin, who had asked yesterday if Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s stepson Riza Shahriz Abdul Aziz and businessman Low Taek Jho had been summoned for investigation by the MACC. On receipt of the written answer today, Sim urged MACC’s chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad to clarify the matter. “We urge the MACC chief to launch an investigation into this case to show that the commission is impartial and independent, and will act without fear or favour,’ he added.
