Ministry rejects ceasefire violation allegationsListen to this articleThe Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement on Monday that Thailand is adhering to the ceasefire with Cambodia and dismissed allegations of territorial occupation or military operations across the border. It said the continued presence of Thai troops in their current locations is covered by Article 2 of the joint statement signed on Dec 27, which both sides agreed as a de‑escalation measure. The ministry added that post‑ceasefire security measures are consistent with Article 6 of the joint statement, which requires both countries to avoid provocative actions that could heighten tensions. According to the ministry statement, Thailand will propose the date and draft agenda for the next JBC meeting once internal government processes following the Feb 8 general election are completed. The Thai co‑chair has already sent a letter to his Cambodian counterpart outlining Thailand's position and seeking a mutually acceptable solution.
