According to the most recent figures available, the total amount owed in Chargeable Excess Tax (CET) on the pensions of some former TDs and senators at the end of that year was €656,953. The figures are included in a financial report from Ciste Pinsean, the Houses of the Oireachtas pension scheme for TDs and senators elected before 2013. The Houses of the Oireachtas pension scheme applies only to politicians who were elected before January 1st, 2013. All politicians elected after that are part of a separate pension scheme called the Single Public Service Pension Scheme.
