HMRC said parents in receipt of child tax credits and those who claim the working benefit have until 31 July to renew their applications for the next 12 months. Tax credits are designed to help working families with targeted financial support. However, those that do qualify for child tax credits can claim it until 31 August after their child's 16th birthday. Tax credit claimants who are due to renew will receive a red or black-striped pack in the post. If nothing has changed your tax credit will auto-renew, but if your circumstances have changed you must let HMRC know.
