In the documentary, Morley Safer: A Reporter's Life, Safer makes a surprising confession. Jeff Fager, executive producer of 60 Minutes, called Safer one of the most significant figures in CBS News history. CBS News said Wednesday it will mark the occasion with Morley Safer: A Reporter's Life, an hour-long special on Safer's career, after 60 Minutes airs this Sunday. Morley Safer is retiring. "After more than 50 years of broadcasting on CBS News and 60 Minutes I have decided to retire," Safer said on the show's website.
