Morocco’s National Observatory for Children’s Rights (ONDE), chaired by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Meryem, signed a partnership agreement with UNESCO aimed at advancing the right to education in the country, the two institutions said. The project seeks to carry out a systemic analysis of the alignment between Morocco’s legal framework and public policies and its international commitments on the right to education. It also aims to strengthen national capacities in rights-based analysis and to develop a coherent, prioritized and operational roadmap to support ongoing reforms in the education sector. Through this collaboration, ONDE and UNESCO aim to promote the effective realization of the right to education by placing a child rights-based approach at the heart of public policymaking. The initiative also seeks to position Morocco as a pilot country for self-assessment of the right to education at the regional level.
