Morocco adopts non-interference vis-a-vis Algeria’s domestic affairs

Morocco is not interfering in Algeria’s domestic issues and abstains from commenting on the recent developments in the eastern neighbor, said Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita in a statement. Algeria has been rocked by large-scale protests demanding an end to Bouteflika’s two-decade rule and a democratic reform of an aging regime. Some media outlets hovering around the regime in Algeria attributed statements to Moroccan diplomacy saying that Morocco is meddling in Algerian crisis or supporting a derailment of protests towards violence. “Morocco strongly rejects the unfounded allegations of coordination with other countries, especially France, on the developments in Algeria. No contact has been made with Paris or any other country in Europe or elsewhere concerning Algeria,” he said.
