Morocco, with a population of around 35 million, eased virus-related restrictions on June 25, reopening cafes, restaurants, hotels and sports halls. Algiers (The North Africa Journal) – Algeria too is witnessing new records of Covid-19 infections. The number of people who died from the virus stands at 920, with eight deaths reported on 1 July. In the eastern city of Setif, the spread of Covid-19 is raising concerns with the number of infections and deaths linked to the virus increasing. A spike in Covid-19 infections has weakened the public health infrastructure in several districts in the western province of Ain Temouchent.
