Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria's People Empowerment Party (PEP) has withdrawn from the Kiambaa by-election in favour of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). Kuria said his party had resolved to withdraw from the race after holding extensive discussions with Ruto. "Yesterday I held extensive discussions with my boss and friend William Ruto on this matter. To make my two colleagues happy and above all for the unity of the Hustler Nation, PEP will not be fielding a candidate for the Kiambaa by-election," said Kuria. During the race, UDA supported PEP to clinch the seat in perceived President Uhuru Kenyatta's stronghold.
