It’s hard to think that South Dakota makes more money per person than Nevada when it comes to gambling, but it does. In comparison, South Dakota made $1.5 million dollars from gambling in 2021, and with a population of less than 900,000, the annual revenue per person was $5.96. According to the March gaming revenue report, South Dakota’s gaming numbers are up more than 3% from the previous year. And so right now we’re on pace to have a record gaming year if the trend continues,” Rodman continued. Rodman says the Deadwood Gaming Association is still optimistic and hopes to have a record year for 2023.
