Motorcyclist killed in collision with deer near Cochrane

One man is dead after his motorcycle struck a deer on Lochend Road, just off highway 1A between Calgary and Cochrane on Thursday night. Officials say the motorcyclists were travelling together, one behind the other, when the collision happened. That rider was sent by ambulance to Foothills hospital with minor injuries. When paramedics arrived at the scene around 10 p.m. they found two damaged motorcycles — one belonging to the 67-year-old man who died, the second to a 33-year-old man who avoided the collision but lost control of his motorcycle.
