Mount Everest death toll rises to 11


(CNN) Another mountaineer has died after summiting Mount Everest, bringing the death toll for the 2019 climbing season to 11 people. American lawyer Christopher Kulish died while climbing Mount Everest, making him the 11th death on the mountain in 2019. The summit of Mount Everest is 8,848 meters (29,029 feet) high. Kalpana Das, 49, and Nihal Bagwan, 27, both from India, also died on Everest this week. More than 200 mountaineers have died on the peak since 1922, when the first climbers' deaths on Everest were recorded.
