Mum who lost newborn describes poor standard of care

Hutt Valley DHB apologised and its chief medical officer said it had made changes and was implementing the commissioners recommendations. The Health and Disability Commission report, published yesterday, found a pattern of poor care, including equipment failures, lack of staffing, and delays. Hutt Valley DHB chief medical officer Dr Sisira Jayathissa would not be interviewed. "This government is committed to rebuilding and strengthening our health system, particularly our maternity care," Genter said at the time. "And that's something that's come through in the independent review the Hutt Valley [DHB] commissioned about it's maternity service which was released last year."
