Ontario’s Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, Steve Clark, began his political career as mayor of Brockville, a small city on the banks of the St. Lawrence River. I was also pleased when he was appointed to Premier Doug Ford’s cabinet this year as, appropriately, minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Wednesday the Ontario government will reintroduce the Better Local Government Act in the legislature, with the notwithstanding clause attached. For the sake of those of us who were inspired by and proud of that courageous 22-year-old mayor, Minister Clark must vote against it.
