Mossel Bay municipality in South Africa’s Western Cape province has embarked on an infrastructure roadmap that includes the use of renewable energy sources like solar in a bid to offset loadshedding. The Western Cape government says local governments are playing a vital role in tackling the energy crisis. “Municipalities are at the coalface of service delivery, which is suffering due to relentless power blackouts,” the provincial government said.
