He was the complainant and the prime witness of Jessore trader Emrose murder case. On August 31, Yunus was at the Madanpur market area of Jessore Sadar when one Pannu and his men used hammers to beat him, said Abul Hossain, elder brother of Yunus. Locals admitted him to Jessore General Hospital and from there he was transferred to Ibne Sina Hospital in Dhaka. His nephew Yunus filed the case against Pannu and few others in connection with the murder, said Yunus's brother Abul.
