Whenever I have a day off and nothing planned, I like to take myself out for a museum day. After all, it’s nice to be far away from my laptop when I’m not working, and wandering around one of New York’s many museums always feels like the perfect way to spend a day alone. Of course, the city’s museums offer more than art and screenings; they also host parties. The free block party, hosted at El Museo from 2 to 6 p.m., will be a celebration of Black music and culture with live performances, exhibitions and crafts. is also opening an exhibition on the puppets of New York next week, which seems both endearing and creepy, but maybe that’s just me.)
