As largely anticipated by the world, the voting process was largely successful without the eruption of violence throughout the country. This demonstrated the willingness of everyone towards the smooth transition of power. Disappointingly, no Presidential candidate was able to win 50% +1 of the votes for the Presidency among the twenty Presidential candidates which led the National Elections Commission (NEC) to slate November 7 for the run-off between the ruling Unity Party (UP) candidate Joseph N. Boakai and the main opposition; the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) George Weah. For George Weah, this is not his first baptism by fire.
