If a car, van or motorcycle was due to be tested after March 30, owners were effectively granted a six-month extension. The news was welcomed by many – but it has since emerged that delaying an MOT or regular vehicle service could have some catastrophic consequences. Sunday People reader Stacey, of Rothersthorpe, Northants, is just one of the car owners to be affected by the rule change. On May 24, however, Stacey crashed into another car on a roundabout, damaging both his vehicle and the other party’s car. Stacey said he had taken advantage of the Government’s six-month extension but his insurer told him this had voided his policy.
