The military junta, which staged a coup against the elected National League for Democracy (NLD) government, made a second charge against Myanmar's de-facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi. Zaw Min Tun asserted Myanmar’s foreign policy will remain the same and that business deals signed under the prior leadership will be honored. Suu Kyi was already charged with violating import bans by having walkie-talkies and other foreign equipment in her villa. Suu Kyi, 75, could face up to six years in prison if convicted of these charges. Associated Press reported the new charge could also be used by the junta to detain Suu Kyi indefinitely.
