Here I present a few pieces on the current situation and projections for DRAM and NAND supply and pricing as well as some coverage of Yangtze Memory status, Toshiba/Western Digital NAND investment, Toshiba Memory stock buyback and Everspin 1 Gb STT-MRAM chip status. Some NAND SSD prices are approaching $0.10/GB, but Yole projects a possibly tighter NAND market in 2H19, which should stabilize prices. According to DRAMeXchange, while other NAND flash manufacturers have reduced production capacity and stretching out 92/96-layer rollouts, YMTC chose to move directly from 64-layer to 128-layer NAND production in 2020. As the Trendforce chart below shows, YMTC may be competing directly with the other major NAND flash manufacturers on shipping 128-layer NAND flash by the end of 2020. With lower prices, DRAM and NAND demand is increasing, but price stability could be delayed by continued NAND expansion and some pressure from Chinese suppliers.
