NASA has unveiled a uniquely quiet supersonic aircraft as part of the US space agency's mission to make commercial supersonic flight possible. At a joint ceremony with Lockheed Martin Skunk Works in Palmdale, California, on Friday, NASA unveiled the Hoping to fly. NASA said the X-59 is set to make its first flight and then its first quiet supersonic flight later this year. For the past 50 years, commercial supersonic travel on land has been banned in the US due to public concerns over explosive sound waves that can be heard from miles away. Is that rumble quiet enough to permit supersonic flight over land?
