Nahid Islam, the convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the government to arrest those responsible for the attack on an NCP rally in Gopalganj. Speaking at a press conference at Khulna Press Club on Wednesday night, Nahid alleged that “Mujibists” carried out a militant-style attack on his party’s leaders and activists in Gopalganj with the intent to kill. He claimed that “fascists and Mujibists launched the attack with weapons” and even targeted the police during the violence. It is no longer a political party, and they have made that perfectly clear,” Nahid said. “We have long said that Gopalganj has become a sanctuary for 'fascists' across the country.
