Market News NCPB starts buying maize from farmersThe National Cereals and Produce Board, Nakuru depot. Traders normally use NCPB as a benchmark for setting price of maize, a move that comes as a relief to growers. The NCPB is paying Sh2,500 for a 90-kilo bag of maize, which is higher than the Sh2,200 that traders have been offering to farmers. "We have started buying commercial maize from farmers this season and we are already receiving the grain," said Gilbert Rotich, NCPB regional manager in the North Rift. The NCPB said it had started receiving maize from farmers and that the quantities delivered are expected to increase significantly in the coming days.
