Addis Ababa, March 7, 2026 (FMC) – National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has formally launched voter registration across the country for Ethiopia’s forthcoming seventh general election, marking a key milestone in the nation’s electoral timetable. During a press briefing, NEBE Chairperson Melatwork Hailu announced that all logistical and administrative arrangements have been completed, enabling voter registration to commence as scheduled on February 28, 2026. According to the Board, a total of 47 political parties have thus far registered 10,934 candidates to participate in the election. Meanwhile, political parties have intensified their activities, engaging in debates and presenting their manifestos to voters as the campaign period gathers momentum. A crucial stage in the electoral process is the ongoing voter registration taking place at polling stations throughout the country.
