In a statement issued by its Finance Directorate, the NHIA announced that a total of GH¢392,031,851.26 was paid out between December 2025 and January 2026. The payments cover claims submitted by healthcare providers in the previous year and thoroughly vetted by the NHIA before approval. Public and private health facilities received the largest share of the funds, accounting for about 80.55 per cent of the total disbursement. Public facilities were reimbursed GH¢157,164,301.62, while private facilities received GH¢158,630,317.29. "The payments reflect the Authority's resolve to promptly pay claims to enable healthcare providers to continue delivering quality services to NHIS members across the country," the statement concluded.
