BOCA RATON, FLA. — If a player’s helmet pops off during a hockey game, he’ll have to leave the ice. And that’s what the annual GM meetings aim to do, even if the topics on this year’s agenda haven’t exactly caused headlines. The helmet rule, which will be voted on at the Board of Governor’s meeting in the spring, is a proactive measure. It’s not often that a player’s helmet becomes dislodged in a game. “God forbid something should happen.”“There’s some instances where the helmets come off during the play,” said Los Angeles Kings GM Rob Blake.
