You can therefore imagine how ridiculous I looked in that ensemble of pleated flowered skirt and matching coat. It helped a bit that I wasn’t the only one who had a whole lot of village me, but only a bit. She had never worn a trouser all her life, she told me, nor a skirt that went above the knees. No matter what the media would like us to believe, there is a group of young people that would not comfortably fit into a box labelled “Young people,” a box that assumes this group dresses, talks and behaves in a certain way and wants the same thing.
