SEOUL: North Korea on Sunday demanded the repatriation of a dozen restaurant workers who jointly fled to South Korea, a day after blasting Seoul over a separate high-profile defection. North Korea claims the group was kidnapped. They made headlines when they arrived in the South in April as the largest group defection for years. In another high-profile case, the South said last week that North Korea’s deputy ambassador to Britain and his family had defected to Seoul. It said Thae Yong-Ho was driven by his disgust for the Pyongyang regime, admiration for South Korea’s free and democratic system and concerns for his family’s future.
