There was always going to be pushback to Premier Doug Ford’s efforts to restore fiscal sanity to Ontario. It is still somewhat unusual, however, to see some of that opposition coming from inside the premier’s own Progressive Conservative caucus. The people of Ontario … wanted someone willing to make unpleasant, upsetting decisionsBut pushback was to be expected. The Progressive Conservatives were elected by the people of Ontario, with a large majority, precisely because the province wanted someone willing to make unpleasant, upsetting decisions. Dissension within the ranks is never fun, but it’s a price Ford must be willing to pay to get Canada’s one-time economic engine back in working condition again.
