This is a time of year when many of the world’s Christians, even those who are not particularly observant, make their way to church for a service. You’ve heard them described as “Christmas and Easter” Christians — those being the only times of year when many turn up to worship. Paris’s Notre Dame Cathedral, one of the most famous Christian sites anywhere in the world, was devastated by fire on Monday. But Notre Dame endures. Photos from the first brave fire crews to enter it showed that, despite heavy damage in sections, much of Notre Dame has survived.
