The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Friday (February 20, 2026) announced that it has appointed Vinod Jakhar as the new president. Mr. Jakhar was previously the NSUI Rajasthan president. The Congress-backed student organisation said in a statement that the process to select the new president began in September last year. Following careful deliberation and a comprehensive assessment of vision, leadership capability, and commitment to strengthening the student movement nationwide, Shri Vinod Jakhar has been appointed as the president of NSUI,” the organisation said in a statement. In its statement, the NSUI expressed its gratitude for outgoing president Varun Choudhary.
