NTPC Ltd and Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Ltd (GMDC) on Thursday signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to explore strategic collaboration in the utilisation of coal and lignite resources.The first MoU focuses on establishing a partnership to utilise coal from GMDC’s coal blocks for power generation at NTPC’s existing and upcoming power stations.The second MoU aims to explore coal and lignite gasification and its downstream commercialisation, including pilot projects and the utilisation of syngas.The partnership is expected to enhance India’s energy security, promote clean coal technologies, and strengthen national energy self-reliance, the companies said.Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC, and Roopwant Singh, IAS, MD, GMDC, along with other senior dignitaries from both organisations, were present during the signing.>
