Ruiru teachers warned against charging candidates for lunch during KCPE examsTeachers in Ruiru, Kiambu County have been warned against charging candidates for lunch during the national examinations period. Area Member of Parliament Simon King’ara said lunch for the three days has already been paid for by a feeding program sponsored by the Ng’ang’a King’ara Foundation. The headteacher of Ruiru Primary School, Stephen Saruni said the feeding program has helped retain many learners in class who would otherwise have kept off school and thanked Mr King’ara for the initiative. He said the school has 207 KCPE candidates this year while 169 will be sitting for KPSEA. Mwiki Primary School in Githurai sub-county has the largest number of candidates, with 854 sitting for KCPE and 739 for KPSEA, all totalling 1,593.
