New Zealand’s premier tennis tournament, Auckland’s ASB Classic, has become a victim of the Covid pandemic again. Tennis Auckland officials confirmed on Wednesday the men's and women’s events, set to be played next January, will be put on hold. The last ASB Classic women's title was won by 23-time grand slam winner Serena Williams in 2020 while Frenchman Ugo Humbert claimed the men's event. The Auckland events have had their fields helped by their close timings to the Australian Open.
