Defending Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan landed a quadruple salchow, triple axel and quadruple toe loop, triple toe loop combination in a program set to Chopin to score 111.68 points immediately before Chen skated. He also said he had put behind him a meltdown in the short program of the team event, in which the U.S. still won a bronze medal.
