According to information released by the service, SEMT Anthony Donkor and EMT Alexander Adu Blowing were returning from Tamale Teaching Hospital after handing over a critical patient when the incident occurred. The crew, operating Ambulance GV-657-20 from the Kpassa station, was approaching the first security barrier in Yendi at about 3:12 AM when unknown assailants reportedly opened fire on the vehicle. The attack shattered the ambulance’s windscreen and damaged both front tyres, putting the vehicle under immediate threat while the crew was still inside. Officials praised the Kpassa-based crew for their composure and quick thinking, describing their actions as a demonstration of courage and professionalism under life-threatening circumstances.
