Jamirul Islam, 37, ward no 9 councilor and a municipality Awami League member, was killed on Sunday afternoon in front of his own house in Biropara of Gopalpur municipality. The incident was confirmed by Lalpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazrul Islam Jewel. Nazrul was taken to Lalpur Upazila Health Complex in critical condition, where the duty doctors declared him dead, Kamruzzaman said. Duty doctor at Lalpur Upazila Health Complex, Dr Razzak, said Nazrul's head, chest, and back bore signs of injuries inflicted by a sharp weapon.
