Naturalist David Attenborough earns his wings

Researchers decided to honour the TV personality for his long-standing passion for dragonflies and to belatedly celebrate his 90th birthday, they said in a statement. "Sir David was delighted because he is not only interested in the story of amber, but also is a president of the British Dragonfly Society." The fossil, described in the Journal of Systematic Palaeontology, is extremely well preserved, and includes a complete set of wings. Knighted in 1985, Attenborough has travelled the globe for more than six decades reporting on the wonders of the animal kingdom. In recent years, he has become an ardent campaigner against the threat of climate change.
