Navam Perahera illuminates Colombo View(s):The Gangaramaya temple’s 48th Navam Perahera took place yesterday with colourful new dance items and floats depicting important Buddhist historical events. The perahera is one of the country’s main Buddhist cultural events and attracts large crowds. This year’s perahera had dance items by eight Indian, Burmese and Chinese dancing teams apart from local dance segments representing Buddhist, Hindu and Islamic cultures.
