Nayland College Year 13 student Natania Ngawhau has been hitting all the right notes with a number of musical and sports achievements in the last two months. An invitation to perform with the New Zealand Army band has capped an all-round stellar year for Nelson student Natania Ngawhau. As well as being named outstanding musician at the South Island Secondary Schools Brass Band competition, the Year 13 Nayland College student was also awarded the overall New Zealand Outstanding Musician trophy at the National Secondary Schools Brass Band event. Her musical efforts have led to Ngawhau being invited to be the guest soloist for the NZ Army Band at its Nelson concert on November 12. However, her leadership qualities were recognised and Ngawhau was invited to be an assistant coach for the team.
