Netflix Says No To Apple, Cannes And Subscription "Taxes"

"We prefer to let our customers watch our content on our service," Netflix Chief Executive Reed Hastings told reporters at the company's offices in Hollywood. In response, Apple has pushed new subscription and other "services" revenue as a way to continue driving growth. The new streaming service is another example of Apple trying to drive subscription revenue even higher. It's also expected on March 25 to unveil a subscription service for news and magazines. Pushing back against yet another Apple tax will husband Netflix cash, while it remains secure that it can still drive millions of subscription signups each quarter without Apple as intermediary.
